TUVVA BuddiTab 2 Review

The Tuvva BuddiTab 2 tablet was made available in April, 2014 on Amazon for $70. It is the successor of the BuddiTab that came out in 2013. The original BuddiTab was received with mixed emotions. Many were satisfied with it, while others said that they were not happy with the graphics quality. In fact, the original BuddiTab only had an 800×600 resolution…

The BuddiTab 2 promises to give better results. Not only does it have a much better graphics resolution, it also has full parental controls. You can now set the security level for your kids’ web browsing, and set a time limit at which an account can play certain apps.

As of the time of this writing, the BuddiTab 2 is considered to be of the higher end low cost tablet varieties. These are becoming more and more common as microchips get more and more efficient. There are many older models of kids tablets still available, but even the newer ones sometimes have issues.

Since this tablet has only recently been released, there haven’t been very many customer reviews. Nevertheless, please read below for our 2 cents worth on the specs of this tablet…

  • Storage expandable to 32GB
  • Very affordable
  • Very light
  • High quality graphics
  • Awesome assortment of preloaded apps
  • Full parental controls

  • Processor might be on the slow side

Our BuddiTab 2 Tablet Review covers the basic specs that need to be considered when making a decision on purchasing a tablet.

BuddiTab 2 Tablet Features

The model of the BuddiTab 2’s processor is the Dual Core ARM Cortex A9 1.0 GHz. The clock speed on this tablet does not seem to be very high, so we wonder if it will hold up to the more rigorous apps that are available on Google Play.

This tablet has 4GB of onboard storage to be used for the preloaded apps and games, and any others you may want to download from Google Play. If more is needed, you have the option of inserting a microSD card to expand it to 32GB of storage.

The pixel density on this tablet is a generous 1024×600, which is great for a 7 inch tablet. This will mean that the graphics will be of high quality, unlike many other low priced models. The original BuddiTab only had 800×480 dpi.

This battery on this tablet is advertised as lasting for 2 hours of continuous web browsing, 2 hours of video playback, and up to 3 hours of audio playback. We have to wonder why the video playback and web browsing specs are both the same, as video playback is usually more intensive. As always, battery life is usually measured under varying controls, so it is difficult to say whether this tablet’s battery will last for as long as they say it will.

It looks like the BuddiTab 2 has many of the great software features of higher end tablets. It runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and comes preloaded with various useful apps and fun games.

It comes with full parental controls, which is not often seen in a low priced tablet. Parents can select a web browsing security level for each kids account. They can also select which apps will be available for which accounts and how much time a child can have access to his/her apps.

Another great feature is that it comes preloaded with over 50 apps right out of the box. This way, you do not necessarily need to hit Google Play right away. The downside to this is that there may be preloaded apps that you do not care for and take up space, so you will need to delete them.

If you want to use this tablet for yourself, it has a ‘mommy-mode’, which turns the BuddiTab 2 into a fully featured tablet.

The Verdict

As stated above, the BuddiTab 2 tablet is the more powerful successor to the original BuddiTab. The original tended to have issues and was not very stable. This one seems to be a bit better spec’ed. Our only concern is that the processor may be a bit on the slow side. But with the right engineering, this tablet may very well be stable.
