In October 2013, Toys R Us released the Tabeo e2 kids tablet. This is an advanced wifi tablet made for kids ages 6 to 11 years old. This is a newer model of the Tabeo that came out in 2012. The 2012 version was a bust, with a flimsy 7 inch 800 X 480 dpi screen. It produced a lot of static and lacked the smoothness of the other more popular models.
- Wide variety of educational games and apps
- Comes pre-installed with popular apps
- Downloads from the Tabeo app store are free
- Fast processing and excellent graphics
- Graphics and speed could be better

Our Tabeo e2 Kids Tablet Review is a summary of the most important aspects of a tablet. Read the following for our full specs review for the Tabeo e2 Tablet.
Tabeo e2 Kids Tablet Features
The Tabeo e2 has a dual core 1.0 GHz processor. This is one the more powerful processors among the kids tablet families. Some of the other tablets seem to have issues with slow performance, but that is not an issue with this tablet.
Perhaps one of the features that best differentiates this model from the previous one is the 1024 X 768 dpi touch screen. This is a great improvement from the 800 X 480 dpi 8 inch screen. Graphics are smooth and shadows look clean and realistic.
This tablet offers 8GB of storage for installing its extensive list of educational apps. If you need for storage, you can purchase a Micro SD card to increase it to 64GB. This is more than enough for anything you might want to install.
The Tabeo e2 has a front and rear facing camera to allow kids to take videos and pictures of themselves and their friends. And to further enhance their creativity, it come with a built-in microphone.
The tablet comes with a rubber bumper to prevent bumps from drops. This is standard practice for kids tablets. The bumper comes in clear, pink, and blue.
Educational Games and Apps
The Tabeo e2 runs on the Android Jelly Bean 4.2. What is great about Android is that it offers more app possibilities than the proprietary kids tablet operating systems which only allow you to download a few hundred apps.
The current version of the Tabeo comes preloaded with 30 apps. These apps include some of the most popular kids tablet games. For example, Fruit Ninja is a classic Android children’s game and is likely to keep them entertained. Other apps include the infamous Angry Birds, and Operation Math to have fun while learning math. Some of the learning apps have popular themes such as My Little Pony and characters from the Cartoon Network. This should bring a little familiarity to the table.
Many kids tablets do not include robust parental controls. Some only offer an ‘on and off’ feature to either allow or disallow internet access. The Tabeo e2 has much better parental controls. It allows parents to select which apps a child can have access to. They can also select the amount of time they can use an app to prevent kids from overusing any one particular game. Also, if you are concerned about the day of the week when it comes to playing games, you can select the days they can have access to certain apps.
Since the launch of the newer model, the Tabeo has received great reviews. It has been said that the Tabeo e2 is modeled after the Fuhu Nabi 2. In fact, Fuhu had a partnership with Toys R Us for selling their products on the Toys R Us website. During the Tabeo lauch, the CEO of Fuhu accused Toys R Us of copying the Nabi 2 model. Nevertheless, Toys R Us proceeded with the launch and they have had great success with their new model.
The Tabeo app store also has 1000’s of free educational games available for download. This is a major plus, considering that many of the other tablets require you to purchase each additional app from their app store. Popular among these apps are the Little Pim and IStoryBooks apps that teach kids different languages.
It has been said that Toys R Us has copied Fuhu Nabi when it comes to their educational app selection. But this has really turned the Tabeo around since they used to only have a few hundred apps available in 2012.
The Tabeo e2 promises to be a leader in the kids tablet industry for the next couple of years. Granted, there are other tablets that are equally as great that offer the same, if not better graphics, processing power, and educational apps.
