Dragon Touch R8 Tablet Features

The Dragon Touch R8’s processor is the Quad Core RockChips RK3188 running at a 1.8 GHz clock speed. This is among one of the newest processors for tablets in 2014. Last year’s tablet models came at a speed of 1.6 GHz or less. And for the price of $150, this will not be beat by any older models. Performance is fast and no reports have been made about sluggishness.

This tablet has a 7.85 inch display. This is similar to the iPad, except that you will not be paying an extra couple hundred dollars just for the brand name. The resolution is high, at 1024×768 dpi. Most current models with less than a 10 inch display comes with a 1024×600 dpi resolution, so you can rest assured that you are getting the cream of the crop with this one.

Interestingly, this tablet comes with 16GB of storage space, while most other tablets of the same price range come with only 8GB. This is yet another win for the Dragon Touch R8!

As with most electronics, even when a manufacturer advertises a length of battery life, there is no way tell tell what metric they’ve used to measure it. But there have not been any reports of customers claiming that the battery life was too short. This is usually a very good sign, since battery life is always a big factor in customer satisfaction.

This Android tablet comes pre-installed with Google Play, which means that you get access to thousands of apps and games right out of the box. This is a full featured Android tablet, so you can install Netflix, YouTube, Facebook, and many other notable apps.

The Google Play store comes with several popular games, such as Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja. And if you have kids, there are many educational apps available. Want to set parental controls? Get an app for this as well at the Google Play Store!

I felt that the chassis of this tablet deserved a section of its own. I love the chrome like casing of the R8! If you are a fan of the iPad look, this one will remind you of its clean, and razor sharp quality. Of the tablets that I’ve reviewed so far, I like the R8’s chassis the best. It will make you feel like you are holding an expensive item, which has the subconscious effect of making you cherish it even more.

The Verdict

The Dragon Touch R8 is definitely ahead of the game this year. It has the perfect balance of affordability and high end quality parts.

If you are looking for a slightly cheaper model, take a look at the R8’s close cousin, the Dragon Touch R10.
